Planning a superhero-themed event? A superhero theme can easily stop at the décor: a few capes, some comic-book graphics, a themed cocktail. The events guests talk about afterward are the ones where the theme comes to life around them.

For Zoo Rendezvous at the Memphis Zoo in September 2026, Goodness Gracious Creative built a full Heroes vs. Villains entertainment experience: a super heroine soaring above guests on a 20-foot sway pole, a custom live battle show, roaming characters, and acrobats performing inside giant transparent bubble orbs. Every act was costumed, choreographed and directed around the theme, so the entertainment didn't just decorate the event. It was the event.

What Entertainment Works for a Superhero-Themed Event?

The best superhero-themed entertainment includes a mix of aerialists, acrobats, stunt performers, dancers, roaming characters and a featured live show.

The secret is layering. Instead of booking one performance and calling it done, plan entertainment for each part of the guest experience:

A showstopping visual guests see from across the venue (like a sway pole aerialist)
Roaming characters who create photo moments and one-on-one interactions
A featured show that gathers the crowd for a can't-miss moment
Unexpected surprises that keep guests discovering something new all night

At the Memphis Zoo, every one of those layers was built around the Heroes vs. Villains story.

Super Girl the Crowd: Sway Pole Aerialist

One of the biggest visual moments of the night was our Super Girl sway pole aerialist.

Nearly 20 feet in the air, she greeted guests from above while performing acrobatic movement atop a freestanding, swaying pole. A custom cape-and-emblem costume transformed the act to fit seamlessly into the Heroes vs. Villains theme.

Because they're visible from across an entire event space, sway pole aerialists are one of our favorite acts for outdoor events, festivals, galas, corporate events and grand entrances. And since the pole is freestanding, there's no need for a ceiling rigging point, which makes it ideal for venues like zoos, lawns and parks.

A Custom Heroes vs. Villains Battle Show

Costumed characters are fun, but we wanted a true show moment.

Our team created a custom Heroes vs. Villains battle performance featuring six dancers, acrobats and stunt performers as original hero and villain characters. Choreography, character work, acrobatics and stunt elements came together in an action-packed showdown, performed multiple times throughout the evening so every guest had a chance to catch it.

Roaming Superhero Characters & Interactive Performers

Not every entertainment moment needs a stage.

Between shows, our cast transitioned into roaming characters and interactive entertainers, creating photo opportunities, spontaneous interactions and surprise moments throughout the zoo.

This is one of our favorite ways to make a themed event feel immersive. The entertainment isn't something guests simply watch. It's happening all around them.

Acrobats Inside Giant Bubble Orbs

For an element guests definitely weren't expecting, we added acrobatic performers inside giant transparent bubble orbs.

Styled as superhero characters, the performers danced, posed and moved acrobatically inside the spheres as they rolled through the event, adding another layer of motion and visual wow to the night. It's the kind of experiential entertainment that ends up all over guests' camera rolls.

Custom Entertainment Is What Makes the Theme

The biggest difference between "themed" and immersive is customization.

With in-house costume stylists and designers, we can transform existing specialty acts through custom costuming, choreography, music, props and creative direction. For the Memphis Zoo, we didn't simply send performers. We built the entertainment around the Heroes vs. Villains concept, designing separate moments that worked together as one story across the whole evening.

That's what we love doing at Goodness Gracious Creative: taking an event theme and asking, "How can we take this further?"
